Bournemouth Joggers has it’s very own 'Club Championships' with the idea that you get rewarded for representing the club wherever and whatever you run in. If you complete any of the designated races or bonus events mentioned, then you will earn points. The CC runs the full calendar year, ending 31 December. There are then trophies presented at the AGM each January for the top 15 individuals. It has no bearing on your speed or ability as there are multiple opportunities to earn additional points to boost your total, which then means the final results are often quite surprising.
There are points on offer for all the league races. Everyone is put in an age group category (35-39, 40-44 etc) based on their age they will be at the end of this year. Complete any of the league races and whoever is the first BJ in each of their age categories will earn 15 points, second 14 points and so on.
The same method of earning points also applies to any of the Imperial 10 series and the Summer Series of 3.5 mile races that take place over at Upton House.
Also if you take part in any other 10k race you will automatically earn 10 points, half marathon 15 points and marathon 20 points. Any other off road event, whatever the distance, will earn you 10 points so if it's a Dark Ox 5 miler or a multi lap Frolic, you'll get the 10 points. Any parkrun is 2 points per event.
Finally if you beat your personal best at any of the distances (5k or 10k or 3.5, 5, 7.5, 10 or 20 miles or quarter, half or full marathon), then you will earn 5 BJ Brucie bonus points each time (so your best plan of attack is to lower your pb by a very small amount each time!!).
There are also age group certificates up for grabs.
